I decided to research it and found this comment.
"Comforter: (John 14:16-17 ) The name given by Christ to the Holy Spirit. The original word is Paraclete and means first Advocate, a defender, helper, strengthener, as well as comforter."
So, that had me looking up John 14:16-17 (see picture).
Then I found this comment about the meaning of John 14:16-17. "After dying on the cross for their sins, he would rise again and ascend into heaven, at which point he will send the comforter, the Holy Spirit, the advocate, to help them and to be with them forever. In this way, Jesus will be with them until the end of the age."
Jesus said: "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:32).
Does this mean that "truth" is the comforter? Whatever that may be. Of course, we may not want to hear/know it. That can happen, too.
Maybe it's why so many are in turmoil today. Deep down inside they know the truth - the wisdom of the holy spirit - but don't want to listen to it.
Very, very interesting. 🕊
