"God helps those who help themselves" is an often thought Bible phrase, but it's not in the Bible.
This exact wording has been attributed to Benjamin Franklin, from Poor Richard's Almanac, yet it's among other similar sentiments from beyond his time, including from the Quran.
In chapter 13:11 it is written: "Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves."
This makes me wonder about a sentiment that's been around for so long, spoken or written in various ways, if we are being asked to greatly participate in our life. After all, we still have to knock on the door for it to be open.
Being one who has experienced a lot of change in my life, I can attest that change isn't always welcomed or fun. Yet, it may still be necessary. For without certain changes, we may stagnate in our personal growth. We can become so deeply rooted in our beliefs that we refuse to change or even fear change.
If this has been an ongoing Universal message, dictated in numerous ways for eons, it's must be a valuable one. Maybe one that's being repeated until we understand it.
No matter who said it or who said it first.
